Moving to New York

After spending most of my childhood in the West, I have had many inclinations to get out.

There was a year spent in Japan during high school, which deserves its own post in the future. There were some summers in Russia, too.

However, I have always felt like America is not my home. By the time graduation came, I had an idea of where I wanted to go for the rest of my life. Unfortunately (or so I thought), fate brought me to New York City. If it was going to be America for a while longer, it would have to be New York. Despite the heartache towards Europe, I am happy about the way things have worked out.

New York City is a place that brings me closer to Japan and Europe, and incredible people from the world more than any place in America. Many eclectic hobbies and interests can be satisfied here. Pardon the cliche, but for the less mainstream people, it is comforting that there will always be someone stranger than you here.

The darker sides of the city, which include, but are not limited to, dirt, grime, filth, rudeness, danger, confusion, disorganization, and honker-happy drivers, are inevitable. People say that that is part of the city’s unique appeal. While it does not appeal to my princess complex, I can understand why the city is the way it is. You cannot have so many nationalities together without some kerfuffles.

Kerfuffles, let me tell you. But that is not all bad.

Why Blog?

It has been years since I have started playing with the idea of starting a blog.

Why? This world is increasing more globalized, and forms of communication have changed dramatically in the past decades. As technology has advanced, so has the pace at which it has improved. No matter one’s opinion of this exponential change in the ways we communicate, it is inevitable that we all adjust, and learn to use it to our advantage.

Even though I am a shy girl, a fairly quiet girl, and an extremely introverted girl, there is no reason to not start utilizing this technology. Perhaps, I will find more success in my interests and hobbies through the internet than real life. Perhaps, blogging will even enrich my real life. Because with the vast opportunities that there are, I want to seize the road that is for me, and experience it to the fullest.
